This weekend retreat is for Adventurer and Pathfinder staff and leaders.
We've had a great kick-off for our year of conference-wide ministries. Let's keep the momentum growing as we gather to learn how to serve young people and families more effectively. The Leadership Retreat weekend is a big investment of time and financial resources, but those who have served with excellence for years tell us that this is part of their secret for success. It's far more than the training, it's about building relationships with others who share our passion for serving kids and families.
We are excited to welcome Craig Harris as our speaker for this weekend. Craig comes with many years of experience that he is excited to bless us with in his prayerful thoughts. We know you'll be blessed by his informative and encouraging messages.
Our track seminars will be led by our own experienced Upper Columbia Conference Coordinators and Club Staff.
We are convinced that this is a season of opportunity for Club Ministries. We'll be focusing much of our attention over the course of the retreat on practical ways that we can maximize our impact in both our congregations and our communities.
We hope you'll join us for a weekend of equipping, inspiration, and fun!
Weekend Information:
Meals:
Most of us like a good meal and the MiVoden kitchen delivers! Dairy-free and gluten-free meal options are available. Be sure to sign up for those meal options when you register.
Cost:
Regular Rate ($185) - Commuter Rate ($100) - TLT ($145) - Children 6-12 ($115) - Children 0-5 ($0)
We recognize that some situations do not allow for you to find a place for your children other than bringing them. This weekend does not have children programing and is designed for adult training. If you do bring your children it is with the understanding that they stay with you throughout the weekend. Let us know if you have any questions.
Dress:
This is a pretty casual weekend. Our main concern many years is staying warm as Fall turns to Winter. So bring your boots and comfy, warm clothes.
Saturday Night Dress:
We will be doing a Winter Holiday Theme Saturday night with our dinner meal. The coordinators will be dressed in Christmas pajamas. Feel free to coordinate with your team on this so you all match, or just come in your own winter pajamas for a comfy evening together. We look forward to seeing you dress up for our fun evening together! (It probably doesn't need to be said, but please choose appropriate pajamas.)
What to Pack:
Your room will have bunk beds and shared bathrooms in the hallway. You'll want to bring bedding, towel, and toiletries. You may also wish to bring a swimsuit to enjoy MiVoden's hot tub and pool. A warm jacket, hat, and footgear to keep your feet warm and dry are always appropriate.
Can I bring my kids?
This weekend is an intense training experience and not kid-friendly. However, we understand that it can be difficult to find childcare for a weekend. So, you may bring your kids. You'll need to make plans to keep them occupied and with you. There is no child care. Children 5 and under are free. For kids 6-12, there is a discounted ticket for the weekend.
CRAFT Option:
Barb and Rachel will be leading a craft class. This will be a hands-on craft that you can learn and then take home and do with your clubs for the holidays. We have a limit of 15 people and it will be $10/person. Sign up below! (This will not be an honor, but it could be incorporated in to one.)
Sickness:
We love you and we'll understand if you get sick and need to stay home.
Seminar Cohorts:
We offer a ton of training at Leadership Retreat. In addition to the main meetings, each Seminar Track offers eight hours of instruction / interaction! In order to ensure that every group is assigned to a room that will fit the size of the group, we ask you to register for a cohort that you will be in for the entire weekend.
Choose your track based on your previous training and the needs of your club.
How to Choose? Are you a new staff member in Adventurers or Pathfinders? The Basic Staff Training cohort is a great place for you to start – it’s also a pre-requisite for Master Guide. If you have your Basic Staff Training done, you may wish to take the next step and work on your Master Guide. Or you may wish to experience a variety of different classes in the Non-Track Track. Are you a new Club Director or want to improve your instruction ability? We are offering the Director training as part of our three-year training cycle. You will want to meet other directors and take the AYMT (Adventist Youth Ministries Training) Pathfinder Director Certification. If you have your Master Guide and want to take a deep dive into the intricacies of being a Unit Counselor, AYMT Counselor training is a great place to do just that.
